Ashland County Food Bank

When Times are Tough

Keeping nutritious food on the table should not be a burden when facing the stress of a difficult life transition. That’s why we’re here to provide short-term food assistance to people with financial need residing in Ashland County. The Food Bank is supported solely by generous donations collected from 30 churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals of Ashland County. We are staffed by caring volunteers ready to listen and provide you with the help and resources you need.  If you are in need of food assistance please call us at 419-281-6061.

Assistance and Programs Offered

Associated Charities provides temporary, short-term assistance to Ashland County residents who qualify. We provide assistance in the following areas:

• Rent Assistance (with eviction notice)
• Utility Assistance (with disconnection notice)
• Medication Assistance
• Clothing and Coats (Kids Closet – clothing for youth through teenager only)
• Food and Taxable Items

How to Qualify:

To qualify for FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, please provide the following:

  1. Proof of the last (4) weeks income for the entire household
  2. Proof as to where that money was spent
  3. A valid picture ID or driver’s license
  4. Proof of residing in Ashland County for at least 90 days.

To qualify for FOOD ASSISTANCE, please provide the following:

  1. Proof of the last (1) week of income for the entire household
  2. Proof as to where that money was spent
  3. A valid picture ID or driver’s license
  4. Proof of current residence in Ashland County.

Satellite Locations

If you don’t live near the Associated Charities Food Bank, consider visiting one of our satellite food centers at the following locations.
Please bring a photo ID and proof of residency.

Polk Satellite

The Polk Satellite, held the third Tuesday of every month at the Polk Fire Station, is open from 6 p.m. until all food has been provided to visitors. The center is run by volunteers from the Polk Fire Department and 5 Stones Church.

Perrysville Satellite

The Perrysville Satellite, held the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Perrysville Community Center, is open from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. or until all food has been provided to visitors. The center is run by the Perrysville Association of Churches.

  • A teacher asked a little boy on the playground why he wasn’t wearing his winter coat. The boy replied, “I don’t have a winter coat and we don’t have any money to buy one”! I was able to get a coat, hat and gloves from the Kids Closet at Associated Charities.
