Note from School Liaison

We would love to share a “note from liaison” that we received last year:

I wanted to thank you for finding shoes for everyone in this family. There were 5 children in this family and I have been trying to connect with the parents all year. They have been hesitant to trust anyone. I have been looking for a way to connect and noticed that 2 of the children never wore tennis shoes, so I thought that might be a way I can help this family. I called the parents and found out all the children were in need and they agreed to allow me to try and find tennis shoes for the children. This is the first time they accepted help. I had tried at Thanksgiving and Christmas to help this family and they wouldn’t accept any help, I think due to pride. Which is admirable. These children are the sweetest kids you will ever meet. When I gave them their shoes they were so happy, it was all I could do to hold back the tears. I could not have done this without Associated Charities’ help. I know sometimes you don’t get to see the joy on the children’s faces and don’t always receive the thank you that you deserve. Not only were you able to give shoes to children in need but you also lifted their spirits and helped me build a relationship with the parents. Today it was shoes but tomorrow it may be a bigger need and now the family feels safer in reaching out to me.

This is the “why” we talk about so often. Thanks so much to all our donors and supporters that make all the “whys” possible!!

Shoes

Note about our “Kids Closet”: one of our school liaisons came in last month needing a pair of shoes for a little one. The only thing holding their shoes together was tape. Imagine the look on their face when they put on that new pair of shoes. Once again we want to thank all the caring and compassionate donors that help stock our Kids Closet. Without your support, none of this would be possible. Thank you!!

Clothing Donation

We are so grateful for the support we have received for our “Kids Closet” from the community. One of our regular supporters just dropped off jeans, tops, sweaters, pajamas and a robe for our local children. Would love to see their little faces when they put on that new Star Wars shirt or that soft Frozen robe. To our friend that dropped off this fabulous donation today – Thank You!

Nancy and Dana – More for the Kids

We love to share all the good things going on at Associated Charities/Ashland County Food. Nancy and Dana just stopped in this morning with goodies for “their little ones”! 137 pair of socks, 90 pair of underwear, 2 pair of shoes plus food and snacks. You have truly been a blessing to the youth of this county. Thank you!

Kids Closet

Our Kids Closet is available to any Ashland County child in need of clothing. If you know someone with a child up to age 18 that could use some help, please let them know about our “Kids Clothes Closet”.

This is why our Kids Closet is so important. And the thanks for this goes to the many donors that give of their time and money to stock our racks and shelves.

Thank you!

Winter Coats

Providing our Ashland County children with a warm coat, hat and gloves has always been a high priority at our “Kids Closet”. In 2017 we gave out 336 warm winter coats to our area youth. This is only possible with the help of our fantastic donors that came forward to make a difference.

“Kids Closet” – Thank you!

We want to thank the many donors that have made our “Kids Clothes Closet” possible. Because of your donations we were able to help a family last week with clothes for 2 little boys. They arrived at their new home with only the clothes on their back. How wonderful it was to be able to get them some new clothes for school. This is the “why” we do what we do. Thank you!

Coats For Kids

We need coats!! There is a nip in the air and our little ones will be needing a winter coat soon. We start giving out coats next month and need to stock our racks. We are asking for new coats or gently used for our little ones up to teenagers. At our new “Kids Clothes Closet” we are trying to provide our local kids with new clothes, shoes and coats. If you could purchase a new one that would be great, but we welcome gently used ones as well. Last year we gave out over 400 coats. We all know that children perform better in school and the community when they feel better about themselves and we want to be part of that if only in this small way!

Kids Are So Important To Us – the “Why”

We would like to share with you a note we received from an Ashland County school liaison this past school year:

Note from liaison: I wanted to thank you again for finding shoes for everyone in this family. There were 5 children in this family and I have been trying to connect with the parents all year. They have been hesitant to trust anyone. I have been looking for a way to connect and noticed that 2 of the children never wore tennis shoes, so I thought that might be  way I can help this family.

I could not have done this without Associated Charities help. I know sometimes you don’t get to see the joy on the children’s faces and don’t always receive the thank you that you deserve. Not only were you able to give shoes to  children in need you also lifted their spirits and helped me build a relationship with the parents. Today it was shoes but tomorrow it may be a bigger need and now the family feels safer in reaching out to me.

I think this testimonial reveals the “why” we do what we do. This is “why” we have started our Kids Clothes Closet – we want to be a part of helping those less fortunate children in Ashland county feel better about themselves. So if you are out shopping and see a pair of jeans, a shirt, socks or shoes, please keep us in mind! And with winter ahead, we will be in need of winter coats, hats and gloves. Last year we gave out 425 coats!
